How a smartphone app is changing the way care is delivered for IBD in Scotland.
Professor Angus Watson, Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, has been working on a smartphone app which allows patients to send medical information remotely, and aims to cut down on unnecessary or inconvenient hospital appointments.
He told members that previous studies have demonstrated that using landline telephones with people with IBD improves patient satisfaction withtheir care.
“It’s about using the technology that everyone has in their pocket,” he said. “The crux of this whole project is getting data from patients into the NHS IT environment.”
